Our residents hail from different cultures and walks of life, and have travelled from all across the globe to study at the educational institution of their choice. We are proud to be the student accommodation provider of choice for these students and to be able to provide them with a super supportive community when they leave home – our exciting Student Life program provides residents with regular community events and staff support to make new friends in a safe and inclusive environment. 
 

Our Team

Mike Porritt

Chief Development Officer

Mike Porritt joined UniLodge in September 2024 as the Chief Development Officer (CDO), leading the company’s expansion across Canada.

With over 17 years of executive-level experience in student housing at institutions in both the U.S. and Canada, Mike brings extensive knowledge of the sector and is a pivotal member in UniLodge’s growth initiatives. He also established the Canadian office of Scion Advisory Services where he worked with dozens of institutions across 9 provinces and Nunavut on housing procurement, operational reviews, and market demand analysis.

His expertise in both on-campus and off-campus student housing, alongside his experience in academic integration and P3 housing projects, position him well in driving UniLodge’s growth in Canada as a trusted partner with institutions and ownership/development groups.

Adam Deverson

Senior General Manager

With over 25 years of experience in global hospitality, tourism, and student accommodation, Adam Deverson is a passionate business leader and people manager who excels in delivering a balanced approach to performance excellence.

He has held senior leadership roles including Area General Manager in PBSAs at UniLodge in Australia, where he championed student life programs that prioritized student wellbeing, community building, and engagement. He is deeply committed to fostering a safe, inclusive environment where both students and staff can thrive.

Since Adam joined UniLodge Canada in late 2025, he has brought his skills in leadership, strategic growth, and his extensive brand and operational expertise to the team.

Scott Gluntz

Senior Manager, Housing Services and Technology

Scott joined UniLodge Canada in February 2026 as Senior Manager, Housing Services and Technology.

Scott combines operational expertise with a passion for student success. He has over twenty years of leadership experience in higher education housing operations, residence life, and student affairs, such as his roles as a faculty member of the National Housing Training Institute and active contributor to ACUHO-I. For the past decade, he has worked in educational technology, helping campuses enhance retention, integrate inclusive access programs, and adopt instructional technology. Known for a strong background in technology integration, training, and onboarding, Scott bridges the gap between housing operations and innovative education technology solutions to enhance the student experience. 

Peter Bates

Peter Bates

Executive Chairman

Peter Bates joined UniLodge in September 2006 as the Chief Executive Officer. In July 2018, Peter was appointed the role of Executive Chairman to focus on servicing UniLodge’s key partners, growth strategies and new business initiatives.

In the decade since he joined UniLodge, with his expertise in project management, project delivery, business management and finance has seen him oversee growth of the UniLodge portfolio from 3,500 beds to over 20,000 beds under management. A civil engineer by profession, Peter graduated from the University of Queensland.

He started his career with the construction arm of Lend Lease, Civil & Civic in 1987 in Brisbane and has enjoyed a 19 year career with Lend Lease. Peter's time with Lend Lease took him to many locations in Australia and into Asia, where he spent nine years in Bangkok, Singapore and Shanghai in senior management roles.
